How to buy a laptop in 2025.

1. Start with the workload, not the brand

The single biggest mistake we see in Indore's laptop showrooms is buyers walking in asking for "the best HP" or "the best ASUS". The right question is: what will this machine do all day? Browsing and Office is a very different animal from Adobe Premiere or Unreal Engine.

2. Processor — the heart

For everyday and student use, Intel Core i5 (13th/Core Ultra) or AMD Ryzen 5 7000-series is plenty. Creators and light gamers should reach for Core i7 / Ryzen 7. Heavy 3D, video and AI workloads justify Core i9 / Ryzen 9 or Core Ultra 9.

3. RAM — the desk you work on

8 GB is the absolute floor in 2025 and we recommend 16 GB for most people. Creators and gamers should specify 32 GB, and prefer DDR5 where the platform supports it.

4. Storage — SSD only, please

Insist on NVMe SSD. 512 GB is the sweet spot for students; 1 TB for creators and gamers. Avoid laptops that ship with only an HDD — they feel slow the day you unbox them.

5. Display — where your eyes live

Look for a full-HD IPS panel at minimum, 300 nits or brighter, and if possible 100% sRGB coverage. Gamers should target 144 Hz or higher; creators should look for OLED or high-DCI-P3 panels.

6. Graphics — only if you need it

Integrated Intel Arc / AMD Radeon graphics handle everything short of gaming and heavy 3D. If you play modern titles or edit 4K video, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050/4060 is today's sensible baseline.

7. Battery, build and after-sales
